PressCoders.com is pleased to announce the release of ‘Twist of Ten’, a fully compatible WordPress 3.0 theme. It supports all of the new features such as custom headers, custom background, custom menus etc. all of which are fully configurable in the admin control panel.
Twist of Ten focuses more on page based navigation to create a simple clean CMS type website. It features two menus: a primary menu for the main drop down pages, and a secondary menu located at the top right of the each page. Both menus can be fully configured in the WordPress admin control panel.
You can choose whether to include a blog page on your site or not, it’s completely your choice. To include a blog just set up a new page called ‘Blog’ or similar, and set the page template to ‘Blog’ and that’s it – you now have a blog page! If you don’t specify a blog page your site will just show page based content via the drop down main menu and top right menu.
The front page shows a custom page to showcase any items you wish. At the top is a page excerpt and associated featured image, in the middle is a welcome message, and at the bottom the latest three posts are shown. Every time the home page is loaded or refreshed a random page excerpt and associated featured image is displayed. You can choose to show all child pages under a specific parent, or if no parent is defined then a random page (from all pages) is shown. If no featured image is associated with a page then a default image (default.jpg) is shown instead as a placeholder. Also, the background of the latest three posts at the bottom of the home page is rotated every time the page is loaded/refreshed.
For all pages and posts (if you choose to show a blog) there is a unique sidebar for each type. The page sidebar shows adverts or anything else you wish, whilst the blog sidebar shows categories and posts related to your blog. Also, there is also an ad-spot in the header area that can be used to display banners or adverts etc.
The theme includes 8 brand new headers you can use in your theme, which are shown to the left (click to enlarge image). Or, you can easily upload your own header image!
Just go to Appearance => Header and choose the header image you want displayed on all site pages. Click ‘Save Changes’ and the new header will become active!
Theme Options
AS of version 1.2 Twist of Ten now supports an array of flexible theme options. The configurable options include facilities to:
- Turn banner adverts in the header ON/OFF
- Turn page sidebar adverts ON/OFF
- Show search box in header, sidebar, or not at all
- Show random featured pages on homepage
- Every home page refresh shows a new page
- Can feature child pages from a parent page or from all pages
- Can exclude certain pages from featured pages
- Front page welcome message can be customised, or removed
- Theme option defaults can be preserved or reset between theme deactivation/reactivation
All of the theme options can be controlled from the Appearance => Theme options admin page as seen in the screenshot below:

Theme Set-up
To set-up the theme simply create a ‘Home’ page and set it to use the custom front page template. If you want to display a ‘Blog’ page link then similarly add a new page using the blog page template. Then go to Settings => Reading and set the active home page and blog page accordingly.
Then go to Appearance => Menus to apply custom menus to the two defined theme locations. And that is pretty much it. Other options can be controlled by the theme options (Appearance => Theme Options).

nice looking theme, thanks, nevertheless i don’t like the whole sidebar being hidden when a page is displayed.
The ability to make the header section thinner would be nice too.

Not sure what you mean. The sidebar IS visible on all pages apart from the Full Width Page example – check out the live demo. So basically it is up to the user whether they choose full width, or with sidebar. Which is the whole point really, as some people will find a use for this, some people will not. The theme should cater for both.

How can i add je advert in the header?
