Fun WordPress Trick

Take 30 seconds and do this little trick on your WordPress site, you’ll get a kick out of it.

  1. Login to your admin area and go to the edit screen for one of your pages (doesn’t matter which one, just not a new one).
  2. Scroll down to the Revisions box, and click on any revision
  3. Scroll down and put the 2 radio buttons like you see in the picture
  4. Click “Compare Revisions”

I hope that made you smile :)

Hi Andy, I didn’t actually know about this either. Kudos to Scott for digging this one out! Oh, and it’s pretty miserable down here in the south UK today too! :(

Just wondering — I try this trick and I get: “Sorry, But you cant compare a Revision to itself.” Somehow, I’m not all that amused. I’m missing something; how do I get there?
    Thanks.

  10. Mike Hickcox says:

Yes, I have 3.4.2 installed. But my “Compare” button appears only at the bottom, not at the top as your screenshot shows.

I do have a plugin installed called “Revision Control” to limit the number stored, and maybe that is in the way.

On the other hand, when I deactivated it, all I got for revisions was a linked list. Something is definitely different from other people’s setup.

  11. Adewale says:

This is really amusing. How did you come about this?

  12. Mike Hickcox says:

Okay, okay, now I’ve seen it. I had to deactivate the Revision Control plugin, then try it.

Clearly, somebody had a day with nothing to do and decided to put it to good use. A little bit of pointless fun is a great contribution to the psyche of the whole world. Thank you!
